When talking athletes successively set new world records at the Beijing Olympic Games, Chen Zhiyu, head of the Doping Office, Games Service Department of the BOCOG, stated at a press conference at Beijing International Media Center on August 17th that all the medalists, including American star Michael Phelps, had to be tested for doping. Negative reports come out around 24 hours while positive ones 48 hours. Laboratory reporting time varies for tests of different substances.
Chen Zhiyu noted that there was no technical problem with doping tests at the Beijing Olympics. Laboratories in Beijing can check out all the forbidden substances on the list of World Anti-doping Agency. Whether doping can be tested out or not depends on the usage and testing period of drugs and causes of drug withdrawal, not on a certain factor. The doping samples of the Beijing Olympic Committee will be preserved for 8 years, during which according to the requirements of IOC (International Olympic Committee), those specimens can be prosecuted at any time and at any time it is valid. This is the strictest measure with the longest prosecuting time than ever.
