| An acupoint refers to a location on the human body at which acupuncture is applied and also a point at which Qi (or human vital energy) and the blood from internal organs flows to the surface of the human body. The Chinese characters “腧”and “输” shared the same meaning in the ancient time and carried the meaning of “transportation”, while the character “穴” means a “hole”. In the book “Huang Di Nei Jing”, an acupoint is also called “Jie”, “Hui”, “Qi Xue”, “Qi Fu”, “Gu Kong” and “Xi”. An acupoint was called “Kong Xue” in the book “A-B Classic of Acupuncture and Moxibustion” and was called “Xue Wei” in the book “Sheng Hui Fang
