On September 25, Assistant Director and project managers, totally six, from the United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID), visited the Home of Love Caring at Beijing You¨An Hospital. AIDS therapy experts from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention accompanied the visitors.
Duan Zhongping, Vice President of You¨An Hospital, gave a warm reception to the UK guests. Both sides held a meeting in which President Duan made a detailed introduction of the general information as well as the characteristics of the Hospital;and he also made a special account of the clinic treatment on AIDS and its humanistic concerns; and the great contributions the hospital has been done to improve the public health of Beijing are also concerned at large. Later on, Zhang Tong, Deputy Director of the Infection Center, introduced the control and prevention of AIDS in China, and then gave a report on the hospitalization of AIDS patients at You¨An Hospital, including international exchange, project cooperation, scientific research, clinic diagnosing, etc. Ms Fu Yan, head nurse of the Infection Center, made a introduction of the Home of Love Caring, explaining that the Home with the theme of ^Love Caring ̄offers family-like medical services for AIDS patients and infectors, and the Home adopts a Trinity working system. Fu Yan stressed that AIDS patients and infectors here will receive face-to-face mental support. The Home of Love Caring also takes every opportunity, such as publicity, training, and education, to acquaint the community with a better knowledge of AIDS, so that the infectors would be accepted by society and would be given more humanistic concerns instead of social discrimination. Both sides made in-depth discussion on AIDS discrimination.
After the meeting, the UK guests accompanied by the Chinese personnel visited the AIDS therapeutic rooms, Tianyuan Workroom and the Ward of the Infection Department, where guests expressed respects for the hospital staff and highly praised their diligence and earnest work, after having witnessed their all-round service and thoughtful care for the infectors.
This visit promotes the projects of cooperation between You¨An Hospital and the UK. The international influence of the Home of Love Caring is also enhanced; and its undertaking on AIDS is moving forward with a good foundation of broadening international field.
