At present, a special initiative of cracking down on illegal practice of adding inedible substances and misuse of food additives is being pushed ahead in an orderly way in the catering sector in the city. To comprehensively standardize the application of food additives in the catering business, the Beijing Municipal Health Bureau mobilized the compiling of A Know-how Manual for Restaurants to Correctly Learn about and Use Food Additives and had it published and released by the People¨s Medical Publishing House. For the purpose of guaranteeing heads and chefs of catering businesses to get to learn about and even know well about national laws, regulations and standards related to food additives as well as relevant fundamental medical and health knowledge, the Beijing Health Supervision Center subscribed 100,000 copies to circulate among 50,000 catering businesses in our city for free.
In order to guarantee the success of the circulation, the Center issued ^Requirements on Circulating A Know-how Manual for Restaurants to Correctly Learn about and Use Food Additives ̄, demanding that health supervision institutions of each district and county undertake the task of issuing the books to all catering businesses (including public canteens) in their administrative precincts before April 15, 2009, meanwhile it¨s also required that designated staff in each district and county should be arranged to properly see to the issuance, receivers¨ signing and registration, the bookkeeping of circulation, as well as urging catering businesses to seriously study the manual.
