There have been a number of cases of alimentary canal complaints taking place successively among students and members of travel groups in our city recently. To improve food safety management toward schools, nurseries and kindergartens and travel groups so as to effectively control the occurrence of food poisoning accidents, Beijing Municipal Health Bureau, together with Beijing Municipal Commission of Education and Beijing Municipal Tourism Bureau, held a meeting on March 30 to report and analyze relevant situations, focusing on a study on how to effectively carry out such work as the prevention and control, informational communication, mechanism for work coordination with regard to food poisoning in schools, nurseries and kindergartens and travel groups.
Zhao Xinsheng, Deputy Chief of the Beijing Health Supervision Center, when reporting on the 7 cases of alimentary canal complaints that took place among some students and members of travel groups recently in the city, proposed that effective measures should be taken to strengthen food safety management toward schools, nurseries and kindergartens and travel groups, and that a situation notifying system and a joint action mechanism should be established between the Municipal Health Bureau and the Municipal Commission of Education as well as between the MHB and the Municipal Tourism Bureau so as to guarantee the health of students and members of travel groups, and prevent such emergent public health accidents as food poisoning. Relevant leaders from the MCE and the MTB stated that the report meeting held by the MHB is a timely and very important one, and agreed on the initiative of the MHB to issue joint regulations with the MCE and the MTB respectively to set requirements for schools, nurseries and kindergartens and travel groups on food safety management. As for details about informational communication and the mechanism for work coordination, the MHB will conduct further study with the other two institutions.
