The 13th Paralympic Games was officially launched on September 6. In order to protect the VIPs, athletes and spectators from disease vectors during the Paralympic Games, Beijing Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention and Beijing Patriotic Health Campaign Committee Office formulated the Comprehensive Disease Vector Prevention Scheme for Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 13th Paralympic Games in accordance with Olympic standards and carried out special activities to control disease vectors from 1st to 5th September, with the assistance of public health teams at the National Stadium. Moreover, under the guidance of experts, they made the monitoring plan for September 6 and kept a close eye on the density of disease vectors during the opening ceremony. An emergency plan and a 24-member emergency response team were also arranged. The National Stadium staff responsible for disease vector prevention all believed that they could successfully fulfill their tasks during the opening ceremony as well as other events of the Paralympic Games, as they had received lots of valuable knowledge and experience from the Olympic Games.
