RH negative blood type accounts for a low percentage (0.3%) among the Han people while 15% among Caucasians. During the Olympics, 400,000 foreigners are expected to get together in Beijing, therefore ensuring the inventory level of rare blood type is considered to be an important task in Olympic medical care assurance.

Recently, as required by the Beijing Municipal Health Bureau, Beijing Public Health Information Center processes statistics about the blood type inventory of RH positive and negative blood from all blood stations last workday. This information will be sent to relevant leaders of BMHB and blood donation offices of 18 districts and counties via text messages in order to provide supportive data for the related leaders to grasp the inventory and consumption of all types of blood, which make blood sampling in all donation offices more scientific and reasonable. This provides a strong support to clinical blood supply during the Olympics.
