On May 7, Director Jin Dapeng of Beijing Municipal Health Bureau met with Doctor Situ Nong, Senior Project Official of Chinese Representative Office of World Health Organization (WHO) in the Zhonghuan Office Building. Both parties discussed the preparation for health care services and public health guarantee of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the Olympic heritage and so on.
　
Director Jin Dapeng firstly extended his gratitude to the WHO for its long-term supports and helps to the health work in Beijing. He said that the International Olympic Committee attaches much importance to the health care services and public health guarantee work of the Olympic Games. Chairman Jacques Rogge stressed that the previous Athens Olympic Games in Greece provided athletes, coaches, officials and visitors with high-level health care services. Beijing Municipal Health Bureau will learn from host cities of previous Olympic Games, and made considerable preparation for staging a high-level Olympic Games with distinguishing features; in particular, it highly valued the response to challenges threatening the public security, such as biological terror and nucleus biochemical reagent. The health care guarantee for the Olympic Games will be strictly conducted in accordance with the requirements of international health provisions of the WHO so as to make well the health care guarantee services for the Olympic Games. The Olympic Games is not only a very rare stage for demonstration and opportunity for development, but also an unprecedented challenge and even more an objective and success we must achieve. It is expected that both parties continue the good cooperation, hold high the Olympic banner, carry forward the Olympic spirits and jointly make arduous efforts.
   
Doctor Situ Nong said that General Representative Han Zhuosheng was deeply impressed by the great efforts of Beijing Municipal Health Bureau for preparation of public health of the Olympic Games. Han reiterated that the WHO will unswervingly work with Beijing Municipality under any circumstances. The preparation for health care of the Beijing Olympic Games is excellent and we should not worry about it. The WHO will, based on the demands of Beijing Municipality, provide all possible technical supports and helps for relevant work of the Olympic Games. Doctor Situ Nong also said, as a host city of staging the Olympic Games, Beijing integrated disease control, environmental health, tobacco control and food safety etc. in terms of public health guarantee, and realized the overall and extensive management. It is expected that Beijing Municipal Health Bureau can summarize such good experience as improving the city through the preparation for the Olympic Games, the new non-smoking provisions and publishing the books Beijing First Aid Guide and compile a book for reference and learning by other countries and cities. The WHO will also provide supports and draw experience from advanced concepts and practices of China. He also invited Director Jin to act as a chief author and a member of the editorial board for this book and to put forward guiding opinions for the next work.
