On 22, April, the director and secretary of the CPC of Beijing Health Bureau Jin Dapeng, along with leaders from medical affairs department, medical equipment department, publicity department, and emergency department, visited Beijing Emergency Medical Center and inspected its preparatory work for the Olympics. The director of Beijing Emergency Medical Center Zhang Yongli, and secretary of the Party committee Tang Qi gave an account of the preparatory work, objective, and current difficulties. The deputy director Zhu Yabin, Wan Lidong, Yang Jianguo, and the chairman of labour union Yan Guofeng presented at the inspection.

Director Jin pointed out that, as the 2008 Olympics is approaching, the whole world is watching Beijing. Therefore, in order to assure its success, we must be fully prepared. As a window of medical industry in Beijing, Beijing Emergency Medical Center has the responsibility to meet the medical requirements of citizens in Beijing, and be the forerunner of all industries in Beijing to secure the success of Beijing Olympics. Jin also put forward three requirements for the center: first, the center should provide satisfactory medical services for the Olympics; second, the center should create favorable environment for Beijing Olympics; third, the center should try best to secure the success of the Olympics. He emphasized that Beijing Emergency Medical Center, as the designated hospital for the Olympics, directly serve the Olympics. The primary task of the center is to secure the success of Olympics. In addition, the center should be ready in other fields. Meanwhile, the staff training work should be enhanced. As for the current problems, it is important to realize, report and tackle them as soon as possible. The center should take the Olympics as an opportunity to improve its medical services for people.

Director Zhang Yongli made a speech on Fulfil Tasks in the Medical Service Conference to Secure the Emergency Service in Olympics. In this speech, he introduced in detail the current situation of the reformation of the command control system, staff training and evaluation, material reserves, and the ultimate goal. It showed the center’s efforts and achievements for the medical service in Olympics and daily emergency service in Beijing. Director Zhang also pointed out current problems in hardware, language training, staff welfare, average reaction time for emergency and long-term operation mechanism of emergency system of pre-hospital care and put forward some suggestions.

The inspection team, escorted by leaders of the center, visited the 120 command control center, and checked the material reserves for the Olympics. During the inspection, they also visited the first material supply vehicle and emergency camps. The team evaluated in detail the qualification of staffs in the command control center, the material preparation for Olympics, and the capability of the vehicle.

When the inspection team was informed that the emergency center has already been fully prepared, director Jin said satisfactorily that the emergency center has obtained many experiences after going through the SARS and Good Luck Beijing Competition. Besides, director Jin also appreciated the efforts by the staffs in the center. Now it is 108 days before the Beijing Olympics, we are happy to see the achievements of the center. It is a big step toward a success Olympics.

Director Zhang Yongli and secretary Tang Qi, on behalf of the whole center, pledged to support and serve the Olympics and satisfy Beijing Municipality, and people in Beijing by its patriotism and actions.
