The Beijing Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, under the direct leadership of the Beijing Municipal Health Bureau, launched pre-Games training on emergency response to intestinal infectious diseases in 12 districts and counties on the evening of July 2, 2008. The training is aimed at testing the emergency response and handling capability of the disease control and prevention institutions during Games, making full preparations for emergence rescue for the Beijing Olympic Games, raising awareness of prevention of the intestinal infectious diseases among leaders in charge of disease control and prevention affairs at all levels and personnel in the sector, and enhancing the technical capacity in handling emergencies and the management expertise.
The training is characterized with strict and carefully planned organization, with relevant leaders of the Bureau personally giving on-site guidance. Five teams in charge of command, planning, inspection, performance evaluation and logistical support worked independently and in close collaboration to guarantee the smooth progress of the training. For problems arising from and detected in the training program, the Center will conduct in-depth training for further capacity building.
