Recently, the WHO Collaborating Center for Children Health established in Capital Institute of Pediatrics has been affirmed again. Capital Institute of Pediatrics has successfully kept fulfilling its responsibility authorized by WHO for many years. It has processed lots of advanced scientific research and promoted technique popularization in the field of children health in China, and has really given full play to the Collaborating Center¡¯s leading role to stimulate the children health development at home and abroad.
The center, since the establishment in 1989, has undertaken many major subjects in children health field, such as ¡°IMCI¡±, ¡°IYCF¡± and ¡°IECD¡±, and has provided essential information for the state to make related policies, and has also offered comprehensive guidance to primary hospitals around the country. It has been affirmed by WHO for many times successively (every four years for a cycle). Last year WHO adopted a brand-new assessment procedure, which requires making an all-around assessment of various centers via the website of WHO, and thus enhances the transparency and difficulty.
Recently, Dr. Shigeru Omi, director of WHO¡¯s Western Pacific Region, wrote an official letter to Dai Yaohua, director of WHO Collaborating Center in Capital Institute of Pediatrics, to appreciate the center¡¯s great contribution to the children health field, and once again entitled the center as the WHO Collaborating Center. Meanwhile, the center was endowed with new responsibilities, which was also selected as one of over 20 key centers.
