Sino-British Infectious Disease Experts Forum, sponsored by British Embassy in China and British Science and Technology Innovation Department, and organized by British Medical Association, Chinese Academy of Science and Chinese Academy of Medical Science(CAMS), was recently held at Beijing Grand Hotel, and nearly a hundred experts of infectious disease participated in it. Mr. David Concar, an official of the British Embassy, He Wei, deputy president of CAMS and Feng Zijian, an official from National Disease Control Centre delivered speeches successively in the opening ceremony. 28 experts from domestic and abroad delivered lectures on respiratory tract infection, bird flu, HIV, hepatitis C, tuberculosis respectively during the meeting, and the chief of Tuberculosis Prevention and Cure Centre of Beijing Chest Hospital also made a speech.
Anne O`Garra, chief of Immunity Department of National Medical Research Institute of British Medical Research Community, Prof. Openshaw, director of Respiratory Tract Infection Research Center in Imperial University, and Prof. Robertson from Molecular Immunity and Infection Center in Imperial University visited the Tuberculosis Prevention and Cure Center in Beijing Chest Hospital. Both sides are confident of further cooperation.
This forum has promoted Sino-American scientific and technological communication, especially in research and control of infectious disease, which has laid a foundation for further cooperation.
