In sweltering summer, some may complain about hyperaemia, itch, pain, burning of eyes and eye secretion overabundance, photophobia, lacrimation, hypopsia after swimming. The one reason is they get infectious ophthalmopathy in swimming pool which we usually called swimming pool ophthalmopathy. The main etiology is micro-organism Kinds of pathogenic microorganism proliferate quickly in sweltering summer. Some pathogenic microorganism including bacterium, virus, transmitting in two ways: infected eyes-water-healthy eyes and infected eyes-hands or objects-healthy eyes. Among the two ways, transmitting through water is more common and faster. If the water in swimming pool is polluted by pathogenic microorganism and sterilization is not strict, at the same time, the swimmers do not take necessary protective measures, they will get the disease in eyes one to several days after contacting the polluted water. These ophthalmopathy includes: bacterial conjunctivitis, bacterial conjunctivitis, epidemic hemorrhagic conjunctivitis and so on. Four protective measures: 1. Swim in swimming pool with good sanitation conditions and perfect sterilization measures. 2. Don¨t wear contact lenses. Better to wear good sealing swimming goggles so that the eyes contact water as less as possible. 3. Shower and wash eyes and swimming goggles with fluid clean water after swimming. 4. Drip ophthalmic preventability after swimming. Using chloroptic and norfloxacin ophthalmic solutions once or twice can prevent bacterial infection. Utilizing acyclovir ophthalmic solutions once or twice can prevent virus infection. Children can use tenebrimycin ophthalmic solutions.
Three kinds of person are not suitable for swimming. § Those who felt hyperaemia, pain of eyes and excessive eye secretion lately. § Those who received operation in eyes lately. § Those who often wear contact lenses with discomfort in eyes. How should we do if we get swimming pool ophthalmopathy? ¥ Stop swimming. ¥ Take examination in hospital to make sure the type of pathogenic microorganism. ¥ Choose right ophthalmic remedy. Common antibacterial ophthalmic remedy includes: Chloroptic ophthalmic solutions, norfloxacin ophthalmic solutions, ocuflox ophthalmic solutions, tenebrimycin ophthalmic solutions, erythromycin ophthalmic ointment, oculentum tetracycline ophthalmic ointment, ofloxacin ophthalmic ointment. Common antivirus remedy includes: acyclovir ophthalmic solutions, moroxydine hydrochloride ophthalmic solutions, idoxuridine ophthalmic solutions, acyclovir ophthalmic ointment and so on. Usage: usually 1~2 drops every 1~2 hours per eye. Use ophthalmic ointment before sleep.
