I. Overview
During the 47th week of 2011 (November 21, 2011 – November 27, 2011), 2,238 cases of notifiable disease were reported in Beijing, 9.02% down than last week, including 6 deaths (from AIDS, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, hepatitis E, tuberculosis and other infectious diarrhea, 1 case for each).
10 kinds, representing 823 cases, of Category B infectious diseases in total were reported, 2.37% down than last week, with tuberculosis, dysentery and scarlatina as the top three in terms of case number reported.
6 kinds, representing 1,415 cases, of Category C were reported this week, 12.49% down than last week, with hand-foot-and-mouth disease, other infectious diarrhea and epidemic parotitis as the top three in terms of case number reported.
II. Major diseases
(1) Measles
4 cases were reported this week, 1 case was reported last week, and 1 case was reported over the same period last year. By the 47th week of 2011, 107 cases were reported accumulatively in Beijing, 95.66% down on YoY basis.
(2) Scarlatina
146 cases were reported this week, 6.57% up than last week, mostly occurring among students and kindergarten children.
(3) Chicken pox
629 cases were reported this week, 5.27% down than last week, mostly occurring among students, kindergarten children and scattered children. By the 47th week of 2011, 16,902 cases were reported accumulatively in Beijing, 11.04% up on YoY basis.
(4) Hand-foot-and-mouth disease
685 cases were reported this week, 19.98% down than last week, mostly occurring among kindergarten children and scattered children. By the 47th week of 2011, 28,956 cases were reported accumulatively in Beijing, 34.92% down on YoY basis.
