This week (from 24:00 June 30, 2008 to 24:00 July 6, 2008), 15 kinds and 4,564 cases of legally defined infectious diseases and one dead case (for hepatitis) are reported in 18 districts and counties across the whole city. Among them, there are 9 types and 1607 cases of class B infectious diseases, up 6.07£¥ from last week and down 24.55£¥ from the same period of last year. The top five diseases according to the reported cases are: diarrhea (963 cases), tuberculosis (276 cases), hepatitis B (133 cases), syphilis (80 cases) and gonorrhea (38 cases); six kinds and 2,957 cases of class C infectious diseases are reported, up 16.10£¥ from the last week and up 9.97£¥ from the same period of last year.
II. Analysis of the Major Epidemics
(1) Hand-foot-mouth disease This week 1,128 cases are reported, up 21.16% from last week. The top five districts and counties with reported cases are: Haidian, Fengtai, Chaoyang, Daxing and Tongzhou, accounting for 68.53% of the total number. In terms of profession, most of patients are scattered-living children and children in the kindergarten.
(2) Diarrhea This week 963 cases are reported in the whole city, up 18.45% from last week and down 32.66% from the same period of last year. In terms of profession, most of patients are scattered-living children, cadres, workers, students, retirees, housework personnel and unemployed personnel, accounting for 73.31% of the total reported cases.
III. Key Notices At present, it is in summer, and the temperature is generally high, which contributes to proliferation and spread of the pathogen of intestinal tract infectious disease, so the health department at each level should further intensify the prevention and control of the intestinal tract infectious disease and strengthen the publicity of prevention and control of the intestinal tract infectious disease in summer to the broad masses, especially on the construction sites and the areas with dense migrant population such as migrant laborers. The disease prevention awareness of the public should be improved so as to make the occurrence of the intestinal tract infectious disease in the whole city controlled at a relatively low level.
